Boarding | Scarborough College | Dickinson | British Boarding Schools

Boarding

Around a third of students board and most of these are full boarders, which facilitates a strong community, and as the College does not have Saturday school or Exeat breaks the weekends are full of sports fixtures, extra-curricular activities and weekly boarding trips. The excellent boarding facilites include refurbished Girls' and Junior Boys' houses, along with a brand new Senior Boys' house and Weaponess, the refurbished flaghip Sixth Form co-ed house. This is situated off site, within easy walking distance of the town, the beach and the College; a good stepping stone to the next stage of life. Each boarding house is staffed by two live-in houseparent families and is visited on four weekday evenings by academic tutors.

Creative arts

The Creative Arts have an important place at the College, as is natural for an IB World School. The Music facilities are purpose built and all practice rooms have Yamaha pianos, while the broader Performing Arts Department boasts a 400 seat multi-role theatre, a Drama studio and a production hall, together allowing the College to put on a major concert each term and an annual school musical, run many ensembles (both choral and instrumental), hold the 'Gig On The Green' (an open-air festival) on the school grounds and offer numerous other events to showcase students' talent. Art is strong and the Design and Technology department houses a metal workshop, 3D printers and a laser cutter.
